Glenholt parishioners enjoy pancake and games fundraiser Plymouth HeraldPARISHIONERS got to know each other over pancakes and games at a recent Glenholt church fundraiser.

More than 60 people turned up at St Anne’s church on Sunday raising £250 in the process .

The money will be poured back into the parish’s outreach programme which seeks to welcome new members of the growing community.

Parish priest Fr Simon Rundell led a game of “Hallelujah”, an adapted version of the game “Beetle”.

Participants swapped tables after each round to help newcomers get familiar with more established faces.

“It was a very simple thing but it really worked,” said Fr Rundell.

“Children as young as four-years-old and ladies in their 90’s were playing together.

“And then of course we ate a shed load of pancakes.”

He added: “Glenholt is a community which is under transition with a lot of new houses and new blood and new families coming in.

“St Anne’s does some amazing stuff with some great outreach to those that do not have any church contact.”

Regular groups at the church include a Tuesday lunch club and Silver Service every fourth Sunday at 4pm, which Fr Rundell described as a “fresh expression of church for older people.”
