Prayers before the Blessed Sacrament, 10th November 2013
Blessed, Praised, Hallowed and Adored, be Our Lord Jesus Christ on his Throne of Glory.
And in the most holy sacrament of the altar
Lord Jesus Christ, present before us in the most holy sacrament of the altar
you are the sun that always rises but never sets.
You are the source of all life,
creating and sustaining every living thing.
You are the source of all food, material and spiritual,
nourishing us in both body and soul.
You are the light which dispels the clouds of error and doubt
and goes before us every hour of the day,
guiding our thoughts and our actions.
May we walk in your light,
Be nourished by your food,
be sustained by your mercy,
and be warmed by your love.
Erasmus, 16th Century
At this time of Remembrance, we pray for those afflicted by war, enmity and oppression. We pray for those who seek to bring peace, aid and justice, praying especially for Her Majesty’s Forces serving throughout the world.
O most sacred redeemer,
Give us wisdom to recognise you,
Intelligence to understand you,
Diligence to seek you,
Patience to wait for you,
Eyes to see you,
Hearts to meditate on you
And lives to proclaim you,
Through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ Our Lord.
Benedict of Nursia 6th C
We pray for those affected by natural disasters, especially the people of the Philippines. We pray for this parish: praying that we might be Christ’s hands and feet, eyes and lips so that through our ministry and witness, Christ may be known in this Parish.
Let everyone be struck with fear,
The whole world tremble,
And the heavens exult
When Christ, the Son of the living God,
Is present on the altar [in the hands of a Priest!]
O wonderful loftiness
And stupendous dignity!
O sublime humility!
O humble sublimity!
The Lord of the universe,
God and the Son of God,
So humbles Himself
That he hides Himself
For our salvation
Under an ordinary piece of bread!
See the humility of God, brothers and sisters
And pour out your hearts before Him
Humble yourselves
That you may be exalted by Him!
Hold back nothing of yourelves for yourselves,
That he who gives himself totally to you
May receive you totally!
Francis of Assisi, 13th C
We pray for the needs of this Community, for the sick and the dying, for the burdened, the afflicted and the anxious. We hold them in our hearts and up to you, Lord and most especially we pray for those who have no-one else to pray for them. We pray that God’s healing hand will come upon them and bring each light, refreshment and peace.
Silence
We envelop our adoration and intercession with a litany of divine praise: please repeat each petition after me…
Blessed be God.
Blessed be His Holy Name.
Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true man.
Blessed be the name of Jesus.
Blessed be His Most Sacred Heart.
Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.
Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the paraclete.
Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most holy.
Blessed be her holy and Immaculate Conception.
Blessed be her glorious Assumption.
Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother.
Blessed be Saint Joseph, her spouse most chaste.
Blessed be God in His angels and in His Saints.
Blog
We’re really sorry, but the usual website of the Parishes of Bickleigh and Shaugh Prior are currently in complete meltdown and are broken. We’ve put this site up temporarily whilst we try and fix it.
